Event details:
College of Law Presentation – Tuesday 23 August at 1pm
All students are welcome, but this is especially important for 4th and 5th year students to learn about the Practical Legal Training that you are required to undertake in order to be admitted as a solicitor. Representatives from the College of Law will discuss the requirements and the programs available to meet them. Lunch will be provided, so RSVP is essential.
Judge’s Associate and Tipstaff Panel – Tuesday 23 August at 6:30pm
Being a tipstaff or judge’s associate is an opportunity open to you after graduation. We will have current and recent associates and tipstaves from the Federal Court and Supreme Court of NSW to discuss everything from the application process to their experiences in their respective roles. Students in all year groups are invited and encouraged to attend – tipstaff positions can be filled up to 2 years in advance, so it’s important to plan ahead where possible.
The Law Careers Seminar – Thursday 25 August 3pm
The Law Careers Seminar is the main event of Law Careers Week, and will feature speakers from a range of areas discussing their experiences and how they got to where they are. Find out what it’s like working as a criminal law barrister, as an in-house lawyer, and as a law reformer. There will also be speakers on international careers and management consulting. Students in all years are invited and encouraged to attend – it’s never too early or too late to discover the career opportunities out there. Please RSVP for catering purposes.
