First Year Mooting

Applications Have Closed

If you are in your first year, then PLEASE READ ON!

For the first time in MULS HISTORY, you have your very own mooting competition! No longer will you be daunted by competing against older students who have studied black letter law and no longer will you be the only one in the room learning at a rapid pace! You will be competing against peers in your own grade, and you will all be fighting to be crowned the inaugral FIRST YEAR MOOTING CHAMPIONS!

This competition is the most prestigious and testing competition available for you as first year law students. You will be required to prepare written submissions and present oral submissions on appellate matters (appeals of law from a lower court decision). It sounds tricky, but it is not as hard as you may think. While you have not come across areas of law such as torts and criminal law,  you will learn a lot from the experience, and your studies will be better off as a result thereof. As this is the first time you will come face to face with the art and skill of mooting, we anticipate that you will experience a steep learning curve while you compete. But that is ok, becuase there are training workshops, manuals and the judges to help you along your way.
