Senior Mooting
Registrations have now closed
The MULS Senior Mooting Competition is open to law students in their fourth and fifth year (or equivalent) of their LLB. The competition is widely regarded as the most prestigious and rigorous of our internal competitions. At the same time, it is the most rewarding of competitions, giving students the opportunity to hone their advocacy, legal research and teamwork skills.
Each round of the competition is judged by an array of leading academics and legal professionals to ensure competitors receive the most constructive feedback. The Grand Finals of the Competition are held either in the Banco Courtroom of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, or the High Court (Sydney Registry). We have been consistently honoured with an enviable judging panel for our Grand Finals, which in the past has included The Honourable Justice Gummow of the High Court of Australia, The Honourable Sir Laurence Street KCMG AC, and Stephen Gageler SC (Commonwealth Solicitor General).
In 2010, the Competition was won by Mona Mbogua (also awarded Best Oralist), Cynthia Alberts and Mary Huang, with runners up William Coote, Patrick Fazzone, Mikhail Glavac and Christine Iacono.
The Mooting Workshop will be held on Tuesday, 1 March. This is not to be missed by any competitors-whether 2011 is your first or final year, these workshops are the ideal place to learn the appropriate tips and techniques to advance in the competition.
